Feelings that have stayed with me: 1. The moment I learned to ride a bike 2. The ability to roam free on my bike as a teenager They describe freedom for me. Here are thoughts, ideas and comments mostly but not exclusively related to urban transport. As I live and work in London, most entries will be London or UK related. All views are my own.

Promoting walking and cycling
Last Friday the UK secretary of state was asked a question about encouraging people to walk and cycle more. Details are here . A short simple question leading to a short simple answer: "The Department promotes walking and cycling through the Change4Life campaign, and works with the Department for Transport to encourage active travel."
As it happens I quite like the 'Change 4 Life' campaign and I know the Health sector is doing stuff to support active travel. But here is the cycling page on the Change 4 Live website: http://change4life.icnetwork.co.uk/bike4life . Do we honestly think people will read this and take up cycling?
I am very supportive of Bikeability. But is that it? Is this all the advice Change 4 Life has to offer?
